Zoals bovenin al aangegeven was een bezoek aan het (voltooide) interieur van de Sagrada Familia mijn hoofddoel. Het interieur was al in 2010 gewijd maar zelf was mijn laatste bezoek in 2006 toen het schip nog volop in de steigers stond.
De Sagrada Familia is nog niet af (ten tijde van dit verslag). Echter het interieur is dat wel (althans min of meer). En deze is bijzonder indrukwekkend. Je loopt als het ware door een stenen woud en de hoogte van het gewelf (45 meter) wordt nog eens extra versterkt doordat de kolommen zich splitsen in "takken" die richting het gewelf iets naar elkaar toe hellen. Het glas-in-lood maakt door het duizelingwekkende kleurenspel alles nog mysterieuzer. Ik heb nog nooit een kerk gezien waarbij het binnenvallende (gekleurde) licht zo'n grote rol speelt in de sfeerbepaling van de binnenruimte. Overal zie je organische vormen, zoals in de deuren van het oostportaal. Ik had er makkelijk een hele dat kunnen blijven maar wilde toch ook nog wel andere delen van de stad zien. Dus na een halve dag was het even mooi geweest.
Een ander object dat ik nog niet eerder bezocht had was Palau Güell. Deze was tijdens mij laatste bezoeken gesloten vanwege renovaties maar nu gelukkig weer open. Een fraai gebouw, waarin de parabool als constructief element voor het eerst op grote schaal door Gaudí werd toegepast. Vooral de fraaie centrale hal/salon met zijn orgel maakte indruk.
Uiteraard was er ook ruimte voor een bezoek aan Camp Nou, het Stadium van Barcelona en de FC Barcelona Experience. Het was ook de laatste kans om het stadion in zijn huidige vorm te zien. Deze gaat nl. op de schop voor een grootschalige renovatie en uitbreiding, die het Stadion zeker spectaculair zal maken maar waarbij de huidige markante bovenste tribune ring volledig vervangen gaat worden.
Uiteraard was er ook nog tijd om andere bekende plaatsen te bezoeken zoals, Parc Güell, Colonia Güell, het oude centrum met zijn markante Santa Maria del Mar en Kathedraal. En na 4 dagen was het mooi geweest en vertrok ik vol indrukken weer huiswaarts.

As indicated above, a visit to the (completed) interior of the Sagrada Familia was my main goal. The interior was already consecrated in 2010, but my last visit was in 2006 when the nave was still in full construction.
The Sagrada Familia is not yet finished (at the time of this report). However, the interior is (at least more or less). And this one is particularly impressive. It is like walking through a stone forest, as it were, and the height of the vault (45 meters) is further emphasized by the fact that the columns split into "branches" that lean slightly inwards towards the vault. The stained glass makes everything even more mysterious due to the dizzying play of colours. I have never seen a church in which the incoming (coloured) light plays such a major role in the atmosphere of the interior space. You see organic shapes everywhere, such as in the doors of the east portal. I could easily have stayed there for a whole day but still wanted to see other parts of the city.
Another object that I had not visited before was Palau Güell. This one was closed during my last visits for renovations but thankfully it is now open again. A beautiful building in which the parabola was first used on a large scale by Gaudí as a constructive element. Especially the beautiful central hall/salon with its organ made an impression.
Of course there was also room for a visit to Camp Nou, the Stadium of Barcelona and the FC Barcelona Experience. It was also the last chance to see the stadium in its current form. This will be overhauled for a large-scale renovation and expansion, which will certainly make the Stadium spectacular, but which will completely replace the current striking upper tier.
Of course there was also time to visit other famous places such as Parc Güell, Colonia Güell, the old center with its striking Santa Maria del Mar and Cathedral. And after 4 days it would have been nice and I left full of impressions back home.
