This pages contains some pictures of a short trip I made in March 2019. Serbia is a kind of hidden gem in the Balkan region. Nowerdays, it is a safe country with really friendly people, spectacular nature and a nice and vibrant captial. Enjoy!

In March 2019. I visited Serbia. It is a very beautiful country with nice people. Belgrade is an interresting and Vibrant city. Although it is very old, not much of these ancient times is left anymore. The oldest building dates from the 17th century, the old mosque. However, it has a nice atmosphere
Novi Sad is famous from it fortress that is one of the largest in the world and famous for it's "Exit" music festival. The old centre is a nice mix of 19th century styles. The Fruska Gora national park is a nice place for recreation and hosts several monestary from which the Hebovo monastery hosts beautiful 17 century fresco's.
Serbia most famous history scientist is undoubtly Nikola Tesla. In a small museum, dedicated to him, a few of his experiments are demonstrated live and are quite spectecular.
The Tara national park, was certainly the highlight of the trip. With it's splendid views and its "House on the rocks" - Kucica na Drini, that started 50 years ago as a river version of a tree house. Following the Drina river North, we ended our day at the leisure village Sunčana reka.
Food in Serbia is very tasteful and one can try many different dishes in the so called Kavarna's, small restaurants that serve traditiona food and are nicely decorated.
In maart 2019 bezocht ik Servie. Een mooi land met vriendelijke mensen. Belgrado is een interessante en levendige stad. Hoewel de stad zelf 2000 jaar oud is, is het oudste gebouw (een moskee) uit de 17de eeuw. Het is echter een stad met een gezellige sfeer.
Novi Sad is beroemd om zijn fort dat tot de grootste ter wereld behoort en het decor is van het beroemde "Exit" muziekfestival. Het centrum bestaat uit een mix van 19 eeuwse gebouwen. Het nabijgelegen Fruska Gore nationaal park is een geliefd recreatie oord. Er zijn vele kloosters te vinden waarvan het Hebovo klooster heel fraaie 17e eeuwse fresco's bevat.
De meest bekende wetenschapper van Servie is ongetwijfeld Nikola Tesla. In een klein museum dat een hem gewijd is, worden op spectaculaire wijze enkele van zijn experimenten gedemonstreerd.
Het Tara nationaal park is een van de spectaculairste natuurgebieden in Servie. Het heeft spectaculaire uitzichten en de Kucica na Drini ("huis op de rots") dat 50 jaar geleden begon als een "boomhut". Verder naar het noorden langs de Drina rivier, ligt Sunčana reka, een resort in traditionele stijl.
Het eten in Servie is erg smakelijk en men kan die uitproberen in de zgn Kavarna's, traditionele eethuisjes die rijkelijk gwedecoreerd zijn.
